I think I have mentioned before that I am a big fan of books by Sarah Dessen. If you have read her books I think you would agree that they are very well written and the characters are great! If you haven't read any of her books, I am going to a book review of three of her books I have read so far. After you read this post, feel free to email me and talk to me about how much you like/don't like these books and why. Also tell me what other books of hers you have read and tell me how you liked them.
"Along for the Ride". This was the very first S.D. book I ever read and honestly, it's my favorite. It's about a girl named Auden who lives with her mom who is a professor and author. This girl is very smart, so smart that all she focuses on is school and doesn't have any friends. She decides to go spend the summer down in Colby Beach and stay with her dad, step mom, and new baby sister. She does this, because she want's a change and a great summer right before she starts college. When she gets there, she gets a job at her step moms store and meets three girls who are all best friends, and slowly add her to the group and show her what its like to have best friends. Also she doesn't sleep at night. Ever since her parents were up fighting before the divorce she stopped. One night she meets this guy Eli who also doesn't sleep. Together they spend the night hours crossing things off her list that she didn't do as a kid, because all the work was school. They go bowling, get into clubs, and whatever else they can think of. Eli has a dark mysterious side to him too. Him and his best friend Abe used to be the best bike riders around, until Abe died and Eli stops riding and hanging out with friends all together. In this book Auden learns that no matter what life throws at you, you should always get back on the bike.
"The Truth About Forever". This was the second S.D. book I read and its one of the best. Macy lives with her mom who is a real estate agent. Its been a year now since her father died of a heart attack and Macy and her mom busy themselves with work, school, and staying organized. They act as if everything is in its place and they always work hard, everything will be ok. One day, Macy meets a catering group run by this very unoraginzed lady and a few teenage kids. She ends up working with them and spends a great deal of time with Wes, her coworker and the nephew of the owner of the catering company. Wes, her new coworkers/ friends, and her boss show her that not everything is perfect, and it shouldn't be. She rebonds with her mother and they learn a better way to deal with the loss of someone they love.
"This Lullaby." I just finished this one this morning and I have to say its pretty good. Remy doesn't believe in love and you can't blame her considering her mother is starting marrige number five. Remy has a certain check list she goes through with each guy she dates and she thinks she has relationships down to a simple equation. Then, she meets clumsy, silly, nothing-like-her-perfect-guy, Dexter who she can't help like. He breaks every rule of hers like, no muscians since her beet father was one, no eating in the car, no getting to atached and so on. Dexter shows her that even though her mothers marriges never worked out, love is real and they have it. Even if he is unorganized, clumsy, different than the rest, and in a band. Remy may have a reputation, but durring this summer it starts to fade.
I really hope you guys check out these books and let me know what you think of them. You can always email me at, thebestsellerstheatre@yahoo.com
